Scoring

How does bot scoring work?

No hidden model, no vibes-based ban list. Every point traces back to a check — and the breakdown ships with the row.

01

Follower / following ratio

Following 400+ with under 10% follow-back reads as list-padding.
02

Age vs. volume

Accounts under ~200 days with 3,000+ posts flag as new + high-volume.
03

Burst posting

Sustained 80+ posts/day on a young account reads as automation.
04

Aggressive following

Following far more than follow back, especially at high counts.
05

Bio signals

Empty bios past a threshold, or bios matching spam-keyword patterns.
06

Username pattern

Auto-generated handles — digits-only or word+digits — add points alone.

Verified accounts get a 10-point credit against flags they trip. Verification isn’t proof — it’s one more input in the same evidence trail.

Method

How does the audit work?

Scan Following or Followers, filter with structured criteria, label accounts Keep/Review/Cut, export cut or block lists. Continuous evidence, not a one-time badge — health tracking shows what moved between scans.

OAuth handshakeOfficial X OAuth — read following and followers; never posting or DM scope.
Cheap enrichmentPublic metrics and profile details enriched outside the privileged token path.
Six-signal scoringEvery account scored against the documented signal set above.
Filter & exportKeyword, verified, ranges, flags, score bands, Keep/Review/Cut labels — then a CSV cut/block list. No bulk remove in-app.
Why audit

How big is the bot problem on X (Twitter)?

Estimates vary widely — which is exactly why per-account evidence beats a single platform-wide number.

9–15%

Share of active Twitter accounts estimated to be bots in the widely cited Varol et al. study of human–bot interactions (ICWSM 2017).

<5%

Twitter's own SEC filings estimated fewer than 5% of monetizable daily active users were false or spam accounts — a figure publicly disputed during the 2022 acquisition.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Plain answers on safety, scoring, pricing, and how this compares to the tools that came before it.

Is ClankerBlocker safe to use with my X account?

Yes. ClankerBlocker uses official X OAuth with read-only scopes. It never posts, DMs, unfollows, blocks, or mutes on your behalf — it only reads your Following and Followers lists and public profile data you authorize.

How does the bot scoring work?

Every account is scored against six documented signals: follower/following ratio, account age vs. post volume, burst posting, aggressive following, bio signals, and username patterns. The evidence behind each score ships with the row — no black-box model.

Does it unfollow or block accounts for me?

No. ClankerBlocker is read-only by design. You mark accounts Keep, Review, or Cut, then export a CSV cut/block list and act on X yourself. No bulk remove, unfollow, block, or mute happens in-app.

Does it work on Twitter or X?

Both — they are the same platform. ClankerBlocker audits accounts on X (formerly Twitter) via the official X OAuth flow, so any current x.com account works.

How much does it cost?

Free is $0 and includes one scan per month of up to 300 accounts, with scores, filters, Keep/Review/Cut labels, and cut-list export. Paid tiers add capacity: Starter $5/mo (2 scans × 500 accounts), Pro $19/mo (4 × 1,000), Operator $39/mo (4 × 2,500). Hard caps, no overage billing.

How is this different from Botometer or Circleboom-type tools?

Botometer scored one account at a time with a probability and was archived after the X API changes. Follower-management suites bundle bot checks into posting tools. ClankerBlocker scans your own Following and Followers lists end to end, shows the evidence behind every score, and exports a cut/block list — read-only, audit-focused.

What happened to the free fake-follower checkers?

Most died when X shut down free API access in 2023: Botometer was archived, SparkToro retired its fake-follower audit, and twitteraudit went offline. ClankerBlocker was built after the shutdown on the current paid API, which is why it is a metered, capacity-priced product.

What is a "clanker"?

"Clanker" is internet slang for a robot — popularized as a derogatory term for battle droids in Star Wars and now widely used for bots and AI accounts on social platforms. ClankerBlocker takes the name literally: it finds the clankers (bot and fake accounts) in your X following and followers so you can cut them.

What is a deep check?

A regular scan scores accounts from public profile metrics in bulk. A deep check is an on-demand, per-account re-examination that pulls fresh, fuller profile data for one suspicious account and re-scores it — useful before cutting a borderline Review account. Deep checks are included on paid tiers (Starter 5/mo, Pro 20/mo, Operator 40/mo).

What data do you access and store?

ClankerBlocker reads your Following and Followers lists via OAuth scopes you approve and enriches public profile metrics to score accounts. Scan results are stored in your account to power history and the portal. It never requests posting or DM scopes. Contact us any time for deletion.
